Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've had my new Macbook for 2 days.

Anyhow, I prefer the dock to be on the right hand side instead of at the bottom. When I do this, the dock doesn't have the standard dock look where it looks like it's sitting on a piece of glass.

Rather it's just in a rectangular box that goes around the icons and isn't very cool looking to say the least. I was wondering if I can achieve the 'standard' look' of the dock when it's on the right side.

I tried playing around with the settings but came up with nothing.

Anyone have an explanation/solution? Thanks in advance.

It's just the way it's designed. I'm not sure if there's an a 3rd party add on that might change it?

oh ok, i figured that may be it too. Although on my g/f's macbook that's a year old and running tiger, the dock appears normal on the side so that's why I was wondering.

Guess they changed it in leopard =/

It appears "normal" in Tiger because it looks the same whether it's on the side or at the bottom. It would look odd for there to be a "shelf" on the side, hence the change in style.

Instead of starting a new thread I just decided to bring this one back.

Does fanning not work when the dock is on the right/left side of the screen?

I really what the normal functionality/look on the sides as the bottom.

Thanks in advance.
