few little problems. plz halp!

ok so i just got my new macbook today and im trying to install a few things but i seem to be running into some problems. not sure how to get around them, thought maybe you guys might know.

problems
1. I have MSN Messanger installed already and when i try to log in it tells me
"Sign in to MSN Messenger failed because the server is not available or you may not be connected to the internet." Now i know the server is available because i can sign in and out on my windows laptop, and i am certainly connected to the internet or you wouldnt be reading this.. any ideas on how to fix this one?? (and i have tried being signed out on the windows laptop already)

2. Cant install AIM. i go to aim.com, and try to download the mac version of AIM and it downloads it but cant open it... the file is called InstallAIM4.7.bin and when i click on it to try to install it is says "Unable to unarchive "InstallAIM4.7.bin into Desktop. Error 45 - Operation not supported"
seeing as im new to the macworld i have no idea why this operation wouldnt be supported...

Adium won't (yet??) video-chat... iChat (as you are using) and Skype video-chat work great.
