Your Mac's Specs
Currently using a PC running XP Professional, purchasing a Mac Pro with 30" screen within two months
We have a new Mac Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.5.7 and an old Windows XP Pro PC with all the latest updates.

The Mac has an Apple Wireless Keyboard plugged into USB with an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse transmitting through this keyboard.

The Windows PC has a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A plugged into a PS/2 socket and a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 also plugged into a PS/2 socket, but this has a USB adapter connected to it so the mouse cable is USB.

The 24 inch monitor has only one D-Sub female socket, whilst both computers have DVI female sockets.

In order to share the monitor we have purchased an Aten 2-port USB DVI KVM switch model: CS62DU. We shall need a D-Sub male to DVI female, but then the monitor should be able to be switched between the two computers.

Our problem lies with the keyboards and mice. On connecting the Apple Wireless Keyboard into the USB flying leads of the KVM switch for the Mac, both black and purple were tried, the keyboard would not work, regardless of the position of the KVM Port Selection Switch. The mouse worked OK on both black and purple leads regardless of the position of the KVM Port Selection Switch.

When connecting the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A into the USB flying leads for the XP PC, both black and purple were tried, the keyboard would not work, regardless of the position of the KVM Port Selection Switch. We cannot try connecting the keyboard and mouse to the PS/2 sockets without adapters, but the mouse did not work using our existing adapter.

To cut to the chase, Maplin will no doubt refund us for the KVM Switch purchased two days ago, what we require is a wireless keyboard and mouse that will operate with both computers and a KVM Switch that will enable the switching if indeed the existing one is not compatible.
