I just got my imac and I wanted to ask some of you experts, do I have to buy software to make a mac website?

No, take a look in your Applications folder for iWeb. iWeb is a basic and easy to use web page creator that should suit you just fine for now. If you want something more advanced down the road, check out RapidWeaver.
