Mountain Lion Clean install with Existing Windows 7

I never ask questions but helping a friend. I don't have Windows on any of my Macs so am not sure of this. If she does a Clean install of Mountain Lion and just erases her OSX partition, she is asking if Windows 7 will work. I told her it should as why would it not? Just curious as I have never do that with the last 3 OSX versions and Windows.

She has an existing BootCamped Windows partition? and wants to clean install OS X?

Have not done it - but from what I've read, the Windows partition will no longer be bootable - am guessing chscag would know better.

Perhaps with one of the 3rd party linux boot loaders?

I figured it would work as the Windows partition will not be touched, but since I have never done it myself wanted to tell her the truth. Will see what Chscag says then. Thanks!

A bit late getting in to this thread, been busy all day long. The Windows partition should remain untouched as long as she doesn't wipe it or otherwise disturb it.

A Mountain Lion clean install will be done from the Recovery partition anyway which should leave the BC partition alone. I would have her make a full backup of the BC partition using the new WinClone ($19.99) just to play it safe.

Fior what it is worth Mountain Lion clean install from Lion had no affect on Windows 7 under BootCamp.

Just did this. Bootcamp partition is fine and working.
