Keynote vs NeoOffice

OK - I opened a .pps file with Keynote and noticed there were lines drawn thru the pictures which I assumed were there to keep me from using the photographers pictures. On a hunch, I decided to open the same pictures with NeoOffice and the lines were gone. Perhaps I was wrong - it appears to be the program. If so, it rankles me that I paid for iWork and it doesn't work as well as a free program! Are there adjustments with Keynote that have to be made for it to work as well with pps files as NeoOffice does?

I have had the line problem when viewing a pdf created from a publisher file. it turns out when i printed it the lines were gone. i dont know if this may be a similar problem.
