Temp is around 120F at idle!!

Hi there I have this a:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz

The tempature of this machine I think is incredible hot and every time a watch a
youtube video or another flash video or game the fan(s) turn on to try to get the tempature
down but like I said even @ idle the temp is way elevated! Here is a pic of what Im talking about!

Can you tell me what app that is for the temp and fan speed? I think 120F is about normal. If I get that app I'll let you know what mine is running at idle. I have 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo MBP so my temp may be a little lower at idle but only because the processor doesn't have to work as hard to do the same performance yours would. We'll see.

Like I said when I play anything 2 do with flash like youtube the tempature can even go as high as 165-175 its crazy and has me worried. I appreciate your help.

Here's mine just surfing Mac-Forums. I don't think you need to worry about this temp. As long as you have good air flow/ventilation around your Mac it will keep itself cooled.

Thanks, but is does get fustrating when the fans turn on, its sounds as if a plane is goin to take off.

Oh c'mon the fans aren't that loud. I pumped mine to max (6000) rpms and I could hear them but nothing even close to the PS3 or Xbox 360. Bottom line: I think your Mac knows when it needs those fans and when it doesn't. If you want and if it works for you, turn the speed down to min (2000) rpms in smcFC just watch your temp. Make sure it doesn't get too high like 180-200+.

120F is no big deal...and yes, when you do stuff like You-Tube...your laptop will heat up quite a bit because you are really pushing your GPU (and probably the CPU) . 165-175F is also quite normal when doing this.

120F is perfectly fine for these CPU's..when they reach about 85-90C(185 - 194F) is when you should start worrying..

My Mac idles around 52-53C and gets up to 64C under load..
