MBP connect to nearest network?

Is there any way that I can set my computer to automatically connect to the nearest wireless network instead of the first listed alphabetically. My school has quite a few wireless networks, and when I move around, I have to manually select the closest wireless network. I've got a MBP 5,5; 10.6.2.

It's not a big deal, but I'm hoping there's a way to do this. Thanks!

Not sure it's wise to do that since the closest network may not necessarily be the one which gives you the strongest signal. Unless you're referring to the strongest signal versus the one listed at the top?

You can always edit your location in the drop down box dialog listed in System Preferences, Network, so that your preferred strongest signal is on top.

The trouble is that he's moving around - so the strongest WAP signal is relative to what he's closest to. If that's the case, I know of no setting or application that will do this systematically.

How about having Locations set for the 3 or 4 most used areas, then hopefully that would give some benefit.
