silly thing missing here - what is the key combi to get an '@' in XP on macbook !?

It might be shift+' because if you set your keyboard to your local language, Windows will assume a PC keyboard layout. Mac keyboards are somewhat different, and largely based on US keyboard layouts.

On my mac it's Left Alt + 2. Norwegian keyboard lay-out.
