Wireless Strength

I recently moved to a small apartment in the east village of new york city. It's an old building and Im having a little trouble with my wireless strength. I have an airport express and the signal seems to barely leave my TINY room to my roomate next door, and forget about the living room which is only about 10 feet away. In my old building (which was a lot newer and Im guessing had thinner walls) it went much further. Would upgrading to the Airport Extreme be any help? Any suggestions?

Does the express have an option to change the wireless channel? If so i would try a different channel. maybe someone else in your building has wireless with the same channel and its interfering.
