I am curious if an app could be submitted to the app store that simply acted as a hyper link to a web page? Would there be coding involved in that? How much?

The coding for that simple of an app is almost trivial and yes it can be submitted to the app store. Not sure who would download a app just for a hyperlink..but anywho..

I think you're looking at this backwards. Any website can be turned into an "app" on the iPhone, for example visit maps.google.com on your iPhone and watch what happens. You'll be offered the chance to save it as a "web app."

If you submitted an app to the App Store that served no other function but as a "hyperlink" to a website, the app would likely be rejected if it was selling anything AT ALL or if it was inappropriate. No such restrictions exist on "web apps."
