how hot is too hot??

Ok, i am curious about this, i have smcFanControl and a widget for like the temperature, but i mean what should i keep my mbp at and like what is tooo hot? i don't wana run the fans to high all the time, but i also don't want it getting to hot, so like what are they supposed to run at and what does your run at?

My PowerBook is running with a CPU temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius right now, using Entourage, Firefox, Excel, iTunes, iCal, Shakespeer, HP device manager, and Preview.

Yeah, i game on mine and it runs fine with fan control i just pump the fans. and i don't have any problems like this guy had. but i mean for just regular programs and stuff what is a good temp. and what are these computers ment to be able to take. like how hot are they supposed to be able to withstand with out problems occuring?

My 2.33 runs around 53-54c most of the time. Have never actually stopped to check temp during a long gaming session. MacWorld did a write up showing peak temps on the MBP's at about 80c on both the 2.16 and the 2.33. The hottest I've seen mine is about 70c, but like I say, I don't keep tabs on this kind of stuff any longer unless there seems to be an issue that could be related to heat or I've just built a new desktop/gaming rig. And then usually only keep track while in active process of overclocking and testing.

Yes, I agree.

The only time monitoring temperature is important is when overclocking. I've never seen a stock system overheat on its vanilla settings. I'm sure it happened at some time, but I've never seen or heard of it.
