Safari - Can't Close

Your Mac's Specs
MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB,1067, OSX 10.10.2 & iPad Mini 2 - 32 GB WiFi iOS 8.1.4
I can't close Safari version 5.1 or shut down the mac 10.6.8. The place to shut it down is grayed out.

How do I fix this.

Use "Force Quit"under the Apple Menu on the Top Left.

The Key Combination for this is Option-Command-Escape.

I would then shut down your computer and restart.

You do not have to restart after "Force Quitting" an application, but it cannot hurt either.
