Macbook and screen

Hey Guys/Girls.

I've just ordered the Mini AVI to VGA wire to hook my Macbook upto my Dell monitor, however, when i receive it, how do i set it up so the Dell monitor is the main screen and the Macbook internal screen is the secondary screen. I want to have the dock and top bar on the Dell screen, and just a blank screen on the Macbook that i can use for messenger or something.

P.S I also bought a Mighty Mouse and Wireless keyboard. I'm now officially poor. /joke/

Go into the Display control panel, go to Arrangement. Drag the menu bar onto the other display's icon.
