Cellular network data increase after 2.2.1

Yesterday I downloaded and installed 2.2.1 on my iphone. After that I noticed on the Usage that the received data have increased to 1GB while before that I had about 250MB.
3G and network was not enabled at that time.
Any idea how this happened?

more than likely its the software update.

you can still use and be charge for data even if 3g is turned off because the phone steps down to 2g and uses the edge network, but it would take FOREVER to rack up that much usage on edge.

Whenever I do not want to use 3G I enter an invalid address in the APN settings in order to make sure that I do not use edge or gprs.
Anyway, it seems there is something wrong since the data counter has increased again in the last 24H to 1.6G. This is only after 1hour of radio (proven no more than 10MB). However I used a lot of WiFI.
If anybody notices a similar increase of data received/send when not using cellular data network please let me know.
