Mac Mail error

About a day ago, my mac mail just stopped working. When I'm looking at my email accounts on the side tab, two of the accounts have the refresh circle going constantly and one of them just has the error circle, which gives the message:
"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Hotmail” or try again.

The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop3.live.com” on port 995 timed out."

What is going on?

You didn't mention the other account, but have you tried accessing your Hotmail account via the web? Let us know what happens.

The other two account are an Outlook Exchange account and a Gmail account. I am able to access Hotmail from the internet.
It was all working for months before yesterday, and then this just starts happening
