Hello, Everyone. I bought a 15" MacBook Pro in December 2006 (2 GB of RAM), and then the new 17" MacBook Pro in June 2007. I know that the 15" MacBook Pro can go up to 3 GB of RAM, while the new 17" MacBook Pro can go to 4 GB of RAM.

What is the configuration of the RAM in the new 17" MacBook Pro? Is it two slots, filled with 1 GB each? If so, I guess I could buy a two 2 GB and fill them up. Could I then use the 17" MacBook Pro RAM in the 15", or even a MacBook (my buddy just bought one, and I was thinking of selling him mine).

What RAM is good to get? Crucial? Which RAM does Apple use in their systems?

Thanks,
Graegaud

two slots in the 17" and yes you could just get two 2gb cards and install.. Crucial is very good, i recently am upgrading from 2gb to 3gb..... they should be compatible or rather cross compatible

I was told that my MBP 17" could only be upgraded to 3GB of Ram. That putting in 2x2GB might cause problems.

Is this really the case? Because i would really like to install more Ram.

No that's not true. If the processor is 2.4/2.6 then your MBP will recognise 4GB of RAM.

Yep, 4Gb RAM

Mine is a 2008 MBP (early) and recognises 4 Gb RAM without problems.

2 x 2 Gb sticks.
