huge ram usage

ive recently purchased a macbook pro, but for some reason every now and again i get really bad slowdown, looking at istat pro i sometimes have as little as 10mb of free ram, but i have only safari and itunes open!

is this a major problem and are there any fixes?

Take a snapshot (shift-command-4) of the activity monitor(applications-utilities-activity monitor) so people can see whats going on.

yup brand new, just before leopard so ive installed that myself if that makes any difference. i'll have to play the waiting game now to see when it next decides to work itself stupid

dont know if its connected but for some reason today the keyboard stopped responding, i had to put it to sleep to get it back working
