Dropping connection\

I have a Netgear ADSL modem connected to my Airport extreme. It works fine, sometimes for up to 12 hours and will then intermittently drop connection. I can find no cause for this at all. Is it because my modem is dying? Netgear's help page doesn't and I am reluctant to buy a new router or modem router, which are the only things on sale nowadays since a standalone ADSL modem seems very difficult to come by and I have a perfectly good Airport Extreme which was not cheap!!!. Anybody help? BTW if it is relevant to my problem, which I suspect it is not, I am in the UK
