wondering if there is a way to get later versions of ios than 4.2.1 ? if not my ipod touch works just fine on ios 4.2.1 just thought a later version would be nice.

second gen with ios 4.2.1 works perfect so if i cant get ios 5 it wont be too upsetting...it will be kinda like my powerbook stuck on leopard or my imac stuck on snow leopard.

No, you can't do this and you probably wouldn't want to do it anyway. iOS 5 seems to require more resources - I notice the difference between iOS 4 and 5 on my fourth gen so I can only imagine that it would bring your second gen to its knees.
