• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

There have been several threads over at the Apple forums on that error with several fixes that have worked (and not worked) in various scenarios.

Seems the first 2 are to make sure you have enough free memory (try the 'Free Memory' app available in the App Store - hit it twice, I see it often times will free up as much memory the 2nd time as it does the first) and to make sure you have enough contiguous free space (gained by defragging if necessary).

Check this thread out to see if any of the solutions will work for you - link.

Of course, you don't have to finalyze an iMovie Project. All that does is create a copy in every resolution that the Project will support, and make them available to other applications via the Media Browser. If you don't need/want this, then just Export as a Movie, or to Quicktime.
