I am not sure if anyone will be able to help, but when I plug my Ipod touch into my mac, the mac does not pick up that it is there. i have tried using Isync but it tells me that no devices are found. i have also tried using different USB cords, but that was of no help either. SOS...

Reboot the computer.

Install / Reinstall the latest version of iTunes.

Can't get any more help than that with the limited amount of info you have provided, such as:
The specs of your Mac, the version of OS X, the version of iTunes.
Has this iPod ever been detected by this Mac?
Has this been your iPod and it's just now started acting up, or have you just purchased a used device and inherited someone else's problem?
