I have an iMac G5 that will burn 12x CDs but not 52x. The error message says that the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
Anyone know why? Can I fix this? Thanks

Is the drive in the iMac compatible with 52X CDs?

Go to the Apple in the menu bar - About this Mac>More Info>Disc Burning and see what optical drive is installed, and the check specifications from the maker's website.

Because discs are available 52X does not mean that the drive will burn at that speed, probably closer to 8X or 12X. Suggest you set the burning speed to the 'Best' option and be happy with that.

Problem solved. The drive won't handle 52x...16x at best.
Thanks for helping me figure this out.
