MacBook shuts off

Someone brought in a MacBook to the computer repair shop I work at, originally to diagnose intermittent keyboard issues of some sort (which I have yet to experience, aside from the arrow keys not working). After being on for a few minutes (with or without battery) a shut down prompt will appear and if I don't immediately hit cancel it will just shut off. I tried resetting the PRAM and PMU but it still happens every time. I think it's triggered by the "turn display off" setting.

Try resetting the SMC. Probably not going to work, but worth trying in case the machine has suffered some "brain damage".

That's what I meant by PMU, but I guess they're different?

Since you already tried resetting the SMC, did you try resetting the PRAM/NVRAM? LINK
