Hi all:

I am trying to watch movies on my MacBook on my HDTV. I get video, but no audio.

I have the appropriate mini DVI to HDMI video adapter and I get beautiful video on my relatively new LG 40" HDTV. I also have the 3.5 mm to RCA cable from the headphone jack to the red/white AV IN on the HDTV directly adjacent to the HDMI on the HDTV. No sound.

There is nothing in the LG user guide that talks about connecting a computer to the tv. Also, there is nothing on the audio menu on the tv that I can change to make any difference, nor is there anything that I can see in System Preferences > Sound that I can change to make a difference. I THINK I have tried everything. I even tried the other three HDMI ports.

Is this a OS issue? I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5

Thanks for any help you can give me.

No problem. Any help, whenever I can get it, would be great.

MacBook is early 2008 model with Processor = 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running Lion 10.7.5.

LG tv model is 42LH40-UA

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much!

See page 27 of the owner's manual - DVI to HDMI connection - available here.

You must use those connections.

Ok, thanks. I will try a DVI connection. Have a good holiday. If it doesn't work, I will be back :) S

You will use the same video cable you already have.

The audio port on the TV is the same as the port on your Mac - stereo 3.5mm ( aka mini-plug) on both ends.
