Open Ports on Transmission

13.5" Macbook Air 1.8Ghz 80GB HD 2 GB RAM OSX 10.5.4
I've had transmission for quite awhile now and had little problems with it. However, every once in a while, the port that is default on transmission (51430) all of a sudden says it's closed. How do I fix this so I can continue uploading?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
