...is there any way to speed up a 533MHz PowerPC G4 without putting out in upgrades?

i dont see much point in upgrading anything to be honest, as its not Intel-based, its a bit of a dead end after OS X Tiger.

i got Onyx and empied all the Caches and stuff, not a whole bunch of difference.

After running Onyx - Maintain a minimum 30% free space on the hard drive.

Between those two, your machine should be running as well as it can with what hardware you have.

Yes...throw it off a tall building!...just kidding.;)

Unless the G4 has very little ram in it (let's say 256-512meg)...then there's not a lot you can do that isn't going to cost you a bunch of money. Even a ram upgrade will cost you, since ram for these computers is not cheap.

You didn't mention what OS version you're running on it...running an older (but better optimized) version can sometimes make the computer seem a bit faster (OS 10.3, maybe 10.4). If you were running OS 10.1 or 10.2...these versions were not quite as "optimized" (Apple was still sort of "tweeking" OS X with these "earlier" versions).

It's an older computer, and still good for some tasks...but there are definitely some things it is no longer good at.
