Macbook Unibody Won't Boot from OSX Disk

I am trying to do a fresh install of Leopard on a Macbook Unibody (late 2008)... currently it says it has version 10.6.2 installed... my disc is 10.5.1.

When I try to boot from the disc, the macbook makes its boot sound, stays on the gray screen, then restarts and loops this action.

Any ideas as to how I can do this? Or should I just stick to installing snow leopard?

Firstly I'm assuming that you're aware that going from 10.6.1 to 10.5.1 is a downgrade...but then sometimes this is necessary if you're having compatibility issues with older software....otherwise I would be confused why you would want to go from 10.6 to 10.5.

In any case...a 2008 Unibody MacBook when it was released came with Mac OS 10.5.5. By trying to install 10.5.1...you're actually trying to install a version of the OS that's too old for this computer.

So you need to install 10.5.5 or newer (with 10.5.8 being the "newest" version of Leopard).

I was thinking about that as well Harry...I was really hoping this was not the case...we get so many of these!
