DVD back up/hardware error?

Hi,

I've used Mac the Ripper and Popcorn to back up a DVD but got this message while trying to burn..

Does this mean something is wrong with the hardware ie. caused by trauma or could it still be software related as burning iDVD projects seems to be OK

I'm wondering if my drive has been damaged by my small child.

Is it happens, yes I've switched brands (couldn't find any verbatims) and gone from -R to +R and back.

What brand are you currently using now? It could be the current media, you are using.

Memorex from a cheap PC supplier type shop.

Does the PB have a preference?

I had a feeling you were going to say that. I believe your problem is the media. I would try another brand. I have used the following and have no problems: verbatim, imation, fujii, tdk, and Apple. I think, if you try another brand you would have no problems.

It's the media. I can't get memorex to work for backing up movies (though it does sometimes work for data). I am now using verbatum with no problems, and sometimes use some no name Fry's brand that is successfull 80% of the time, but was dirt cheap (as in 50 for $3).

You said you use Popcorn... Seems like they are having an issue if you're running 10.4.1. Popcorn has an update that should be out today, 5/19. Might want to give that a try too as I'm having a similar issue.
