I went into System Preferences to delete a user from my Mac. Now, 24 hours later, the Mac still says "Deleting Account" and won't shut down because SysPref is still "working". Is it still working or has it crashed? Force Quit does not give any error message on this app. What should I do?

Force Quit, reboot and see if the account is still there.

For the benefit of those who may read this thread in the future deleting a user should never take 24 hours. The longest I've had it take was a few minutes for an account that had quite a bit of stuff in the user folder.

@Jeffery Not sure what caused the apparent hangup. You certainly demonstrated more patience than I would have if the situation were reversed. Glad you got that sorted out.
