We bought a used 800mhz 17" G4 iMac a few weeks ago, and we put in an extra 512mb of ram in it. This 512mb chip came out of a 15" iMac G4 that was functioning perfectly.
So, we start it up and after hours of painstaking procedures of erasing and fixing the hard drive, we finally manage to install tiger and boot it up. Great.
Now the computer seems to work, however the other day we tried to watch a movie and it froze about 20 minutes into it and gave us that "You need to restart your computer" screen.
So, it can't watch movies. We've tried many times, it keeps giving us that. We've zapped P-Ram, repaired permissions, etc.
So, we said, nevermind, we won't watch movies on it.
But it still freezes even while surfing the internet.
Last night my dad was using it, and black lines of text came over the screen....
I typed up the beginning and the end of it.
This is what it said:
