Safari/Internet very slow...Help!

I am running a 1.67 GHz Power PC G4. Mac OSX V.10.4.11.
This has been a very reliable Mac up till this week. The internet is running very slow. I also get the "Spinning Wheel" a lot when opening applications like Pages, Keynotes, etc.
My wife's PC is running fine on the internet, so I have to assume it's my Mac. Before I dump everything and reinstall the operating system I decided to come to this form to glean from others' knowledge.
Can anyone help me? I really don't want to reformat my computer.

I can't help with your problem but share your frustrations.

I'm trying to find out how to uninstall Snow Leopard and revert to Tiger as ever since I upgraded I've had problem after problem, particularly on the internet, experiencing similar problems to yours.

The most problematic is trying to access certain sites which just won't load.

I've done several 'clean' installs and still the problems persist....
