facebook is slow

I am having problems with Facebook running slow, very slow. Also, sometimes my calendar and messages hang up. I am using 10.9.2 and this is on my MacBook Pro. Here are some more facts about my laptop. Any help is appreciated. I have shutdown my laptop several times, when this happens. It happens with Safari and firefox.

How do I find out?

In Finder, go to View > Show Status Bar. It will now tell you at the bottom of any Finder window.

When you say "hang up," are you referring to them not syncing properly? If so, this could be a network issue. What kind of network connection do you have? Is it slow on any other device that you might have?

I have 661.99 GB available. When it hangs up, it shows that ball rolling around. Thanks. I was packing for a trip.
