Brand new Macbook air shutting down?

I'm a new mac user. Just ordered my 11" air on black friday. Tonight, when I went to connect to my external monitor my mac just shut down entirely. I couldn't turn it on at all. Finally I found instructions on my phone to do shift+cntrl+option+power for 5 seconds, let go and hit power, to reset the SMC. Thankfully that worked. But shouldn't I be really concerned about why and how this has happened when I've had my mac for just a little over a week?

Yeah, I guess I would also be concerned especially since it's new. However, it could have been a one time glitch on the power line. If it happens again, make an appointment with your local Apple store and have a genius look at it.
