AppleCare will replace the device with a new or refurbished one with the exact same engraving on it.DCraver said:DREMEL IT! MUHAHAHA.
Or break it and get it Applecared and there will be no engraving.
?
Actually, they do. Seeing that I sent my iPod in for repair and it was replaced with a new one with the exact same engraving on the new one. :black:DCraver said:No they don't.
Espically not if you go into an Apple Store.
Apple iPod Repair FAQ said:Will my custom laser engraving be preserved?
If your original iPod was personalized by Apple, your replacement iPod will be automatically personalized with the same text. If your original iPod was custom laser engraved by another company, your replacement iPod will not be personalized.
Well, that would make sense, since they don't have the ability to engrave it at the store. Otherwise, if you send it in through the normal procedure you will get the engraving.DCraver said:My friend had one laser engraved and it broke and he took it to the store and they just gave him a replacement with out engraving.

Well that's not so bad. I'd think it would look better than a big ole scuffed off chrome area which is what you'll have after abrading it off. It's probably brass or some cheapo aluminum underneath the chrome plating. If anyone mentions it just smile and say well at least I won a $200 ipod in the lottery whereas you and 100 other people gave me your $2 that you lost!coach_z said:it was won on some NJ lottery drawing thing....imagine this attachment made into a laser engraving
