How to compress a powerpoint? and use the compression tool

Hi I have a powerpoint on Microsoft .. I have gone to the finder .. done the compress file.. its zips.. but Im confused.. It shows the same size as before.. any ideas? its too large to send.. I need help! thanks :Confused:
