How important is it to have any sort of insurance??
Be aware that Applecare only covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover:
- Damage due to dropping it.
- Damage due to spilling liquids on it.
- Running it over with a automobile.
- Damage due to bumps.
- Damage due to electrical surges.
- Battery's being worn out due to regular use.
All this being said. Sometimes computers do suffer from manufacturing defects or defects in component quality. Of course these sorts of things cannot be predicted if & when they will happen. Apple usually has a very good track record when it comes to quality & reliability...but "stuff" does happen.
So like any sort of insurance. If you buy & don't need it...you feel like it may have been a waste of money. But if you buy it & do need it...you thank god that you bought it!

I purchased it when I bought my macbook pro in 09'. Even though I have never had a problem with it once. The tech support was awesome. And they were there when I needed them. But like they say it's a chance that you take.
