Hi All,

I just need some clarification on this,

I've recently bought off a friend a Macbook Pro (A1150) with no installation disks as he was unable to find them. The operating system was corrupt and needed reinstalling, I borrowed a Leopard disk off my other half who has a Macbook (A1181) which came with it.

But when I tried to install this it came up with the "mac os x cannot be installed on this computer" error message, after a bit of research on here i'm led to believe that this is due to the disk not being compatible with a macbook pro?

If i purchase a Snow Leopard Retail disk will this allow me to install OSX to the macbook pro?

Thanks,

Antony.

Way... way too many specs to list.
The retail disk would allow it to be installed on any Mac that it supports.

As Dysfunction has noted, the grey disks that come with machines are machine-specific. You're going to need either the discs that came with the machine or a retail one.

Thanks for that to both of you, that was what I thought, but just thought i'd double check it before I bought a copy.

And hang fire for a couple of days and see if the new Lions OS X.7 will install on the machine.
