This has start about a good 2 weeks ago. I have been told it was a kernel panic, a software issue, hard drive is bad or video card.

When i turn on my macbook, sometimes it tells me i need to restart with just the gray screen or with the blue vertical lines. I have my leopard DVD and i went to disk utility to repair the issue only to see it happen again. This is the recent issue i have i have copied from the last boot.

Certain MBP models have had their warranty extended because of failing Graphic Processor Units. I'm not sure if yours falls in that category or not. You need to check with Apple to see if your MBP is eligible for the warranty extension in order for Apple to repair it for free. They'll need your model number and serial number.

Other than that, it sure sounds like your GPU (video card) has failed.

Regards.

I had the same problem as you. It turned out to be the GPU and it was covered under warranty despite it being out of warranty.

Have a look at my thread here and see if the pictures match yours.
