my 2.6 ghz 2 gb ram MBP is taking pretty long to start usually over 45 secs....it seems to try n read from my cd drive & also appears to scan my hard drives before. during the apple logo & the spinning wheel...is there any way i can stop it from scanning my drives at startup/change startup preferences? btw it seems to take a little longer since i updated with 10.5.2...i hardly have anything set to load at startup...just 4 items...

apart from that if there is any other way to speed up things please let me know...thanks...

40-50 seconds is the norm. To check go to System Preference>Accounts>Click on your Account>Login Items just to make sure nothing is selected there which may slow you down.

Think this is slow try XP Professional on a Dell laptop................
