I have a Canon MP170 combined printer / scanner. It runs software on the Mac called MP Navigator.
However, I wanted to share it with other users of my home network, so it is connected by USB to my Ubuntu server.
My Mac can see it quite happily. It can print to it too. But scanning will not work - it claims not to find a connected scanner.
Has anyone else overcome this issue? I found details of a Canon IJ Network Tool here IJ Network Tool Ver. 2.6.6 (Mac OS X 10.3/10.4/10.5) but that seems not to find it either!
