iPhone won't work after complete factory restore! PLS HELP!!!!!

HI All,

I have just upgraded my phone to a 3Gs and am giving my old iPhone 3G to a friend. I therefore wanted to reset to factory settings and delete all contacts which i did through the setting menu.

Now the iphone wont start up. It took 2 hours to delete everything and now the start up screen with the apple comes up and then after a few mins the round mac loading symbol comes up on top on the apple and the nothing happens.

Can someone please help and suggest what the problem/cure is??

Have not had the issue myself. The only thing I'd know to try would be a reset - done by holding the Home button with the On/Off button simultaneously for 10 seconds (or until the Apple logo appears on screen) and then try a restore again.

Yes have tried this but it just hangs on the apple logo screen??? Is there any chace this could be because the phone was unlocked to work on any network?

?? Have no experience with an unlocked phone.

put the phone into DFU Mode then restore with iTunes.

Google: iPhone DFU mode.
