I want to play my albums with itunes which i know how to do, but want the single audio files to open with VLC because if it opens with itunes it saves in the library. Any1 know how?

Select an MP3 from the Finder and press ⌘+I to get info. In the window that pops up, there is a section that says something like "open with" and you can select VLC from the drop-down menu. Then press the "change all" button.
