Dock Hiding Speed

I simply would like to speed up the hiding and revealing of the dock as it just has this infuriating lag! maybe only a split second but i still notice it

anyone got any advice?

I did a little Googling and though this is a common question in a few forums, there doesn't seem to be a known way to do it. Best solution offered was to use a 3rd-party alternative to the Dock that has an adjustable show/hide delay as a feature.
