I have an IMac with OS X Snow Leopard, I received fillable PDF documents in an email from a windows pc and I was able to open the documents and fill them out, but when I returned them to the sender, the recipient said when she opened them there was nothing there. Can someone please advise me how to make this work so she can open the documents with the info still there. Thx in advance.

The sender will need to turn on Form editing in Acrobat Reader (why it isn't on by default is beyond me). That should save the form data rather than discard it

Adobe - Acrobat 8 tutorial : Enabling forms for Adobe Reader

Another way is to use Apple's preview app. That may not save the forms data on a save, but if you print the form to a new PDF file (Print > Use the print to PDF button) all data will be preserved in the 'printed' PDF
