Can you tell use what exact Mac computer model you have and what OS version you are running?

When I say exact computer model...I don't just mean MacBook Pro, Mac-Mini, Mac Pro, iMac, etc. I mean the exact model (so we have a better idea of its age).

When you say that you cannot install WinRAR...what exactly is happening and/or what messages are you getting?

Thanks,

- Nick

I have always used MacPAR Deluxe (which of course opens RAR files) ... but Tom's suggestion of Stuffit Expander (free) will also do the job.

Hey Tom...I don't really know much about "Winrar"...but I did find a Macintosh version:

WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

Wasn't sure how this fits in with what you mentioned above.

I'm on my Windows machine at work and it wouldn't let me find anything except the Windows version - duh...

And, I've been using the free version of Stuffit, since my first Mac.
But don't need it much at all, extremely rare for me to download anything that requires it.

Like you mentioned above...I've always used Stuffit Expander (years & years & years)!:)

WinRAR is a "Windows" data compression tool that focuses on the RAR and ZIP data compression formats for all "Windows" users.

You're both right. WinRAR appears to be the UI for the RAR tool, which itself is cross platform. So, WinRAR is Windows only but the underlying RAR tool is not. At least this is what I glean from the website.
