My computer is a 1.8 Ghz Power PC G5 with 256 MB DDR SDRAM running OS X 10.3.9. Is it worth upgrading to Leopard? I presume I need to upgrade the memory - as I'm in the middle of rural France I'll have to install the memory myself -is this doable? I think I know the memory to buy but any pitfalls I should know about? Maybe I should go with tiger? Any advice? Apologies if I've posted in the wrong place.

Yes you should definitely upgrade the memory to at least 1GB, or more if you can afford to.

I also think it would be worth upgrading the OS. If you're going to upgrade at all, get Leopard. There is nothing wrong with Tiger, but if you upgrade rarely (as seems to be the case), you might as well get the latest OS.

Order the memory online, and NOT from Apple and it should be fairly straight forward to install.
