iphone plan activation fee for existing at&t customer?

Is there any activation fee for existing at&t customer if I wanna get iphone plan?

Technically there is. I do personally know of someone who was able to have it waived with a call to AT&T customer svc, though.

I don't know what his contract situation, etc. was.

I had AT&T and yes there was a activation charge 36 bucks or something.

That's crazy, I wasn't charged any activation fee. Nor did I have to ask to have it waived.
