Okay so I bought a macbook off of ebay (BAD IDEA) and I just received it.

I turned it on starts up fine. Then I realize there's absolutely no applications what-so-ever. Came with install discs tried popping one in.. 10 seconds later, spits it right now.

I'm assuming someone just deleted everything instead of reinstalling OSX on it.

It will read MP3 CD's, but DVD's. I really have no idea what to do. Are there separate drivers for CD's and DVD's?

Is there anyway i can download something from another computer and transport it from my external hard drive onto the laptop to get things going again?

Only thing it has on it at this time is the Finder and the Dashboard.

When clicking system preferences nothing comes up.

So please anything would be a great help.

Thanks,
Dan.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this in.

If the systems discs are the ones that came with the machine, insert disc one and immediately reboot and hold dowbn 'C' after the chime. If it boot from the install DVD/CD, go to Utilities>Disk Utility>Repair Disk and if that runs, format and do a clean install.
