I am using Panther. I have never been aboe to use Disc First Aid because after I open the utility it always crashes before I can us it (like when trying to run first aid, reinitalize a HD etc).

Is there a way I can do this from terminalk mode or just reinstall this utility??

Thanks

Try booting to single user terminal, restart and hold Apple S, then type /sbin/fsck -fy until the ****file system changed**** stops showing

I am a little confiused here. I thought that disk first aid was a OS 9 application, whereas disk utitlity is the OS X application.

If that is the case you will not be able to use disc first aid. You should be able to do what you need to do with disk utlity.
